I love the way drawing, painting and sewing come together in a quilted collage. I begin by gathering a pile of possibilities from a rich assortment paper and ephemera I’ve made or collected over time. Then I cut and overlap these elements allowing my intuition to guide me. As the pieces are juxtaposed I see connections, finding meaning in the collage. When I quilt I don’t aim for perfection, I like the lively handmade character of wobbly stitches and loose threads. My sketchbooks are my constant companions and the simple materials of watercolor painting on paper and drawing are my way of seeing the world. I focus on the beauty of nature, home, travels, design and art history. My sketchbooks are full of moments in time, reflections of my life that may not always be complete, but are all part of my art.
